A Marion woman is accused of running from authorities in three counties.
Deputy Steven McPeters of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Lisa Marie Mills, 56, address listed as Lentz Road in Marion, with fleeing to elude arrest, resisting a public officer, driving left of center, speeding, reckless driving to endanger, unsafe passing on a yellow line, providing fictitious information to an officer and unsafe movement.
At 5:06 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, McPeters was patrolling on U.S. 221 South, when he spotted a Chrysler Sebring driving recklessly in the area of Polly Spout Road. McPeters turned on his blue lights and siren and got the vehicle stopped inside Lucky Strike Campground.
When the deputy approached the vehicle and tried to communicate with the driver, she sped off again, leading McPeters on a pursuit into Rutherford County, where he was assisted by other agencies.
The suspect continued to the area of Coxe and Thunder roads in Rutherford before striking an embankment and coming to a stop, at which time she was apprehended.
She refused to give officers her correct name and date of birthday, but further investigation showed she was Mills and was wanted in Buncombe County for fleeing to elude arrest.
Charges against Mills are pending in Rutherford County.
Mills got a $22,500 bond.
