West Marion Elementary School’s halls and classroom doors were fully decorated for the Christmas season, ready to be judged for the annual Christmas door decorating contest.

Sheriff Ricky Buchanan, Capt. Jason Grindstaff and administrative assistant Tiffany Coates of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office were this year’s judges. The classroom doors were judged in several different categories, including incorporation of holiday themes; neatness of design and attention to detail; creativity of design; overall time, effort and teamwork. There were three winners of the contest: Jennifer Pittman’s kindergarten class, Amanda Reel’s EC class and Lauren Fowlkes’ day treatment class. The winners received a certificate and a gift card to Walmart.
