Authorities need help in identifying suspect

McDowell County sheriff’s deputies need the public’s help in identifying the suspected thief believed to have hit a Marion man’s storage building four times.

The suspect was caught on camera at the Mudcut Road property of Lester Lee Kemick during the latest incident the week of Oct. 26, when a trail camera and a propane tank, worth a total of $125, were stolen.

The first time came the week of Aug. 17, when the suspect broke into the building and hauled away more than $18,000 worth of tools, knives and collectibles. During the week of Aug. 30, the suspect returned and stole a $600 generator. On the third occasion, on Sept. 24-25, nothing was taken, but there was evidence someone had forcibly entered the building, according to a news release.

You can view the video of the suspect on the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page.

Anyone with information concerning the crimes or identity of the perpetrator is asked to call Lt. Andy Manis at 652-2237 or text TIP MCDOWELLSO and your information to 888777.

I had well over $500 worth of property stolen from me more than a year ago --- and I gave them the guy's name, address and phone number; still no charges filed by our local magistrate. I love it! Maybe they only want "challenging" whodunits?
