'Brunch bill' OK'd: Earlier Sunday alcohol sales in Marion

This evening, Marion joined 89 other cities and counties in North Carolina that have adopted a "brunch bill" ordinance. At the regular meeting, the Marion City Council unanimously approved the sale of alcoholic beverages before noon on Sundays after a new state law gave them the option. The item was approved after two members of the public spoke in favor of the new rule. No one spoke against it. City Manager Bob Boyette said as of today 89 cities and counties in the state had already adopted "brunch bill" ordinances. This action makes Marion the 90th. We'll have more on this story as it develops.
