For this year, a SiriusXM radio host and entertainer will be the guest entertainer at the annual banquet of the McDowell Chamber of Commerce. And this Blue Collar Radio personality will be the first nationally-known act to perform at downtown Marion’s Municipal Event Center.

The McDowell Chamber of Commerce’s annual member banquet will take place Thursday, March 14 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Municipal Event Center.

So far, the Chamber has had a great response to its 2019 banquet featuring radio personality and comedic personality Patrick Henry. Chamber officials said they are close to selling out and want to encourage the local community to get their tickets, according to a news release.

Guests should come prepared to laugh, tap their feet and be inspired by this nationally syndicated humorist, Nashville entertainer and SiriusXM radio personality. Henry will bring his comedic talents to Marion for one night only at the Municipal Event Center (MEC). He will be the first nationally-known act to perform at the 15,000-square-foot space located inside the former Rock-Tenn facility. Chamber Director Steve Bush said he is excited to host the event there saying that members will have the opportunity to see and experience the center, which is jointly funded and operated by the Chamber and the city of Marion.

“Holding our annual banquet at the MEC is a fitting testament to the work and investment the Chamber has made on behalf of its members to bring this great event space to our downtown area,” said Bush. “We are excited to host top-rated talent such as Patrick Henry for all to enjoy.”

Along with great entertainment, you can expect fabulous fare from a local restaurant, lively concoctions from XYZ Spirits, LLC including local beer and wine. Chamber officials said the event is open to the public and they encourage non-members to attend and see the MEC in its finery.

Tickets are $30 for members, $35 for the general public and $40 for VIP (front row) seating. You can make it a group outing by purchasing a table (seats eight) for $250. Tickets can be purchased online at mcdowellchamber.com and at the Chamber office, located at 1170 W. Tate St. in Marion.

The event is presented by the generous sponsorship of the Corpening Memorial YMCA and Samir’s. The Citizenship Award that will be presented that night is provided by Duke Energy Carolinas.
