Nebo man faces charges for meth, marijuana

A Nebo man was charged with possession of meth and marijuana and illegal possession of a firearm.

Deputy Robert Watson of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Ray Jackson Welch III, 29, of Stacy Hill Road in Nebo, with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to a news release.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 1, Watson assisted state probation and parole officers with a search at Welch’s residence. Welch is on probation and, therefore, subject to warrantless searches.

Authorities came away with a handgun, 9.32 grams of methamphetamine, seven various pills and 1.5 grams of marijuana.

Welch got a $21,000 bond.
