Free vaccine clinic for dogs on Saturday

The McDowell County Animal Shelter will host a free vaccine clinic for dogs on Saturday.

A free vaccine clinic for dogs and puppies in McDowell County is Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the McDowell County Animal Shelter, located across from McDowell Tech at 3751 N.C. 226 S. in Marion.

According to Brother Wolf McDowell, the community has experienced an outbreak of the deadly parvovirus, which is a highly contagious and often fatal illness. Unvaccinated dogs and especially puppies are susceptible to parvo, and the only way to prevent it is by vaccinating your dogs.

“We recognize there are few low-cost veterinary care options in McDowell County, so we are holding this FREE vaccine clinic to make these life-saving vaccines available to everyone, regardless of your financial situation,” Brother Wolf said.

All you need to bring is your dog (must be on a leash at all times), any previous vaccination records and one form of identification. For questions, call 559-2777.
