In addition to both Gold Festivals, downtown Marion’s Liver Mush Festival will celebrate the tasty, locally produced pork product on Saturday.
Marion will celebrate the 12th Annual Liver Mush Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday on Main Street.
“Come join the Celebration of Liver Mush and the Liver Mush heritage of Marion and McDowell County!” reads a news release.
Hunter’s Liver Mush, the event’s sponsor, will naturally have free liver mush sandwiches. That always results in long lines as hungry folks wait patiently for their free sandwiches.
“Celebrate all things pig at the Marion Liver Mush Festival in downtown Marion,” reads a news release. “Liver mush is a regional delicacy and part of the heritage of Marion and McDowell County!”
The Pig Calling Contest will be back this year. The winner will get $50, a trophy and a festival T-shirt for the best pig call. The Liver Mush Eating Contest will be back too. This contest is open to adults 18 years and older. The winner of this will also get a $50 cash prize, a trophy and a Liver Mush Festival T-shirt.
Inflatables and other activities for the kids will available. Main Street will be lined with all kinds of vendors and sponsors. Downtown Marion’s restaurants, taprooms and brewery will be open for your enjoyment.
For the motorcycle enthusiast, it will be the Second Annual Hog on Hog Poker Run. The cost is $20 per motorcycle. Registration begins at 11 a.m. at Mica Town Brewing. The first bike out is at 11:30 a.m. and the last bike out is at 12:30 p.m. Run ends with a motorbike display on Main Street at 4:30 p.m. as part of the festival.
The Hog on Hog Poker Run is sponsored by Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) to raise money and awareness for abused children and support for this worthy cause. For more information, call 828-652-2215.
The Roadrunnerz will provide the sounds of great country music and rock classics.

Drummer Jason Peeler is a backup and lead vocalist that carries the heartbeat of band as his powerful beat that gets the people on their feet!
