Authorities said Monday they arrested a Marion man after he misused the 911 system then crawled out a window to avoid arrest.
Lt. Darryl Ishikura of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Kirk William Biddix, 28, of 84 Shea Drive in Marion, with misuse of the 911 system and resisting a public officer.
At 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 24, telecommunicators in the county’s 911 center told Ishikura that they had fielded seven 911 calls from Biddix’s residence in about four hours. Ishikura went to the house and warned Biddix not to call 911 unless he had an emergency.
Shortly after the lieutenant left the home, Biddix again dialed 911.
Ishikura returned that afternoon with a warrant for misuse of the 911 system. He allowed Biddix to go into the bedroom to check on his dog. When the suspect did so, he fled the residence through a window.
Biddix was located and arrested on Thursday, Dec. 1, at which time he was also charged with resisting an officer.
Biddix received a $21,500 bond.
