Marion City Council to meet Tuesday

On Tuesday, the Marion City Council will talk about having meetings with the different community forums and discuss the renting of the Community Building.

The City Council will hold its second meeting for April at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the City Hall.

First, the city will be presented with a 30-year Tree City USA award.

Representatives from the N.C. Department of Transportation will speak to council. City officials will also talk about a rental of the Community Building.

A public hearing is scheduled for a change in the zoning rules.

The public comment period will follow. This is the time when the public can speak to council about any issue or item not on the agenda.

Council members will consider adopting a resolution about the local water supply plan for Marion. They will discuss holding council meetings with the local forums such as the ones for West Marion, Marion East and the Hispanic community.

Council will pick a voting delegate and an alternate for the N.C. League of Municipalities conference.

City Manager Bob Boyette will give his report to council.
