A Marion man involved in a domestic dispute at a local business was charged when officers later found a rifle with ammunition in the car he drove there, according to authorities.

On Tuesday afternoon, officers with the Marion Police Department responded to Bojangles on Sugar Hill Road after a report of a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife. The victim told officers that the male suspect, 28-year-old Corey Bartlett, of Morgan Road in Marion, left the business after making threats to her and to the restaurant.

Authorities were then informed that Bartlett had traveled to his residence on Morgan Road, where city and county officers later located him.

After receiving consent to search his vehicle, which he had driven to the business, officers found a rifle with ammunition in the truck.

Bartlett was served with warrants for communicating threats and misdemeanor child abuse, then taken into custody. His bond appearance is scheduled for Wednesday in McDowell District Court.
