A Marion woman faces charges related to possession of illegal drugs.

Deputy Robert Watson of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Jennifer Lynn Leonard, 38, of Bethel Church Road in Marion, with possession of methamphetamine, possession of synthetic cannabinoid and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, Watson stopped a Chevrolet pickup truck at the intersection of Lessie Morris Road and U.S. 70 East in Nebo for traffic violations. After learning that Leonard was the driver, the deputy was advised that she had outstanding warrants and was arrested.

Deputies Watson and Steven McPeters, along with K-9 Kessy, searched the vehicle and located synthetic cannabinoids in the form of five vape pen cartridges, five units of liquid methamphetamine and items of drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.

Leonard got a $25,000 bond.
