On Saturday, Oct. 27 the McDowell County 4-H Livestock Judging Team competed at the N.C. State Fair Contest. The senior team also competed in the Southeast Regional Contest. The local youth brought home many awards.

Logan Crisp and Ethan Laws joined with two other youth from Lincoln County and received first team in Sheep, fifth in Goats, third in Beef, second in Oral Reasons and third Overall high team.

The senior team made up of Hannah Ellis, Alyson Biddix, Colton Cox and Alyssa Green (Madison County) competed in the Southeast Regionals Contest. The McDowell Senior Team finished second high overall team in the state.

Results for Seniors:

Hannah Ellis-4th in Goats, 5th high team in Goats, 3rd in Swine, 4th in Oral Reasons, 3rd in overall team in oral reasons;  1st in Meat Goats; 1st in Swine; 7th in Cattle, 1st in Oral Reasons, 9th in overall high team in oral reasons.

Alyson Biddix-6th in Cattle, 4th in Swine, 2nd in Cattle, 9th in overall high team in oral reasons, 6th in overall senior.

Colton Cox-10th in Sheep, 3rd in overall team in Sheep, 8th in overall high team in Swine, 7th in oral reasons.
