Arthur "Ott" Dillingham
Arthur "Ott" Wayne Dillingham, 71, of Newton, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, April 4, 2019, at his residence.
Born March 26, 1948, in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Wayne Curtis Dillingham and Ossie Beatrice Harvey Dillingham. Ott retired from Prysmian (formerly Alcatel) and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy; in recent years, many knew him through his ownership in Pelican's Snoballs in Hickory and his involvement in Newton Downtown Development Association. He was an avid Newton-Conover Red Devil and UNC Tar Heel fan and enjoyed golfing, photography, and trips to Cherokee. He also enjoyed going on cruises and traveling with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Elaine Dillingham; grandson, Aaron Dillingham; and brothers, Don Dillingham, Jerry Dillingham, and Dennis Dillingham. Survivors include his sons, Jeff Dillingham and wife, Tracy, of Greer, S.C., Pastor Jason Dillingham and wife, Deborah, of Maiden, and Amol Parage and wife, Omana, of Chandrapur, India; brother, Jack Dillingham and wife, Linda, of Morganton; sister, Frances D. McNeely of Marion; grandchildren, Kyle Dillingham, Tobi Hart, Joshua Dillingham, Isaac Dillingham, Jacob Dillingham, Rachel Dillingham, Jeremy Parage, and Jonathan Parage; and great-grandchildren, Addi, Kadence, Kealen, Jasper, Kyler, and Liam.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 8, at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory, with Pastor Jason Dillingham officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, April 7, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton.
