McDowell High School (MHS) extends an invitation for local businesses and organizations to take part in the annual MHS College, Career, & Volunteer Fair on Friday, Sept. 13 from 9-11:30 a.m.
On this day, juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to speak with college representatives, and over 1,100 students will visit the Career & Volunteer Fair.
Many students indicate they don’t know what careers are available to them; they only know what they’ve seen depicted on television. This fair provides an excellent opportunity for potential employers to interact with students, and help guide them in the postsecondary education or training area they need to pursue.
Additionally, MHS aims for students to see the value of giving back to the community through volunteering. Many students ask about opportunities to volunteer or job shadow. This fair will allow volunteer-based organizations to gather names and contact information of students who have expressed an interest and can easily reach out to them about upcoming opportunities.
The fair will be held in the auxiliary gym from 9-11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. Set up will begin at 8:15 a.m. and complimentary refreshments will be available in Student Services. This year, all participants are asked to bring displays and handouts for students.
