A Marion man was arrested and charged after he was found with a handgun and a small amount of meth while riding his motorcycle, authorities said Tuesday.

Deputy Steven McPeters of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Roy Holmes Hendley III, 39, address listed as Beaman Road in Marion, with possession of methamphetamine and carrying a concealed weapon.

While patrolling on U.S. 70 East at 11 p.m. on Monday, April 1, McPeters stopped a motorcycle on Beaman Road for not having a tag.

A subsequent search of the driver, identified as Hendley, and his belongings turned up a handgun and a small amount of methamphetamine.

Hendley’s bond was set at $20,500.
