Rising sixth to eighth graders can explore many different career options at Camp Opportunity. Registration is open now.

McDowell County Schools is again partnering with McDowell Technical Community College (MTCC) to offer Camp Opportunity for middle school students June 17-20.

The day camp provides campers with the opportunity to learn about a different career each day through exploration and hands-on activities. Sessions will be held at McDowell High School (MHS), MTCC, Universal Advanced Manufacturing campus and other area locations.

Sessions offered at Camp Opportunity include advertising/graphic design, agriculture, art/painting/drawing, automotive technologies, biology/anatomy/physiology, chemistry, construction/masonry, cooking/culinary arts, cosmetology, drafting, drones, EMS/fire technology, environmental science, esthetics, fashion design, fitness/nutrition, forestry, game art/design, gizmos and gadgets, healthcare, law enforcement/forensics, machining/welding, music, networking/IT, NJROTC, photography, theater arts, veterinary medicine and wildlife management.

Camp will begin each day at MHS, and transportation will be offered through an abbreviated bus route.

The camp is offered for rising sixth through eighth graders. Cost of the camp is free and includes lunch and snacks.
