A Marion man was charged after he was found with an open bottle of liquor and 4 ½ grams of meth in his vehicle at a license checkpoint, authorities said Monday.
Deputy Steven McPeters of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Charles Edward Davis Jr., 50, address listed as Carson Elliott Drive in Marion, with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an open container of alcohol and driving while license revoked.
McPeters was at a license checkpoint on West Tate Street at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, when he saw Davis approach in a Ford Ranger pickup truck. McPeters was familiar with Davis, having stopped him on a prior occasion.
The deputy observed an open bottle of liquor, as well as drug paraphernalia, in the truck. Further investigation also turned up 4.5 grams of methamphetamine.
Davis’ bond was set at $10,000.
