A Marion man was charged after deputies conducting a license checkpoint located over 2 ounces of pot and a gram of liquid THC on him and in his car, authorities said Monday.
Lt. Jason Cook of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged David Scott Ruff, 48, address listed as Eplee Lane in Marion, with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Thursday, July 18, as sheriff’s deputies were conducting a license checkpoint at the intersection of Ashworth Road and Interstate 40, Cook smelled marijuana in an SUV that approached.
A subsequent search of the suspect and the automobile turned up 59 grams (or approx. 2.1 oz) of marijuana and 1 gram of liquid THC.
