McDowell County Schools Board of Education will meet Monday night to honor students and teachers and discuss new business.

Several recognitions are set for Monday’s meeting for NC Skills USA competition winners, DECA International Career Development honorees and winners from the NC State Science and Engineering Regional Fair. 2019-2020’s Teacher of the Year Renata Crawley will be recognized at the meeting, as well as teachers in the top 25% for student growth in the state.

West McDowell Middle School will give the curriculum feature. Current Teacher of the Year Angela Autrey will give her monthly report.

Superintendent Mark Garret will update the board on the Old Fort Elementary School project, and the board will nominate a McDowell Tech trustee. A vote on the nomination will occur during the June meeting.

The board will discuss the consent agenda, and move into closed session for personnel considerations.
