Thelma Elizabeth Allison, 91, of Old Fort, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Givens Highland Farms, in Black Mountain following several years of declining health.

A native of McDowell County, Thelma was born Sept. 12, 1927, to the late Sandy and Sadie Eller Allison. She was retired from Asheville Showcase where she served as secretary. An active member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir there with her beloved sister, Edna Allison, who preceded her in death in 2012. Thelma was very community minded and was always doing for others. She loved her family very much and enjoyed baking cakes and simply being a blessing to those she met.

She is survived by two nephews, John Allison of Old Fort and Paul Allison Jr. of Cary; as well as a niece, Ava Gibbs of Old Fort.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Service in Old Fort with the Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Following the service, Thelma will be laid to rest beside her sister in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Flowers are appreciated, however, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in her memory are encouraged to consider Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 536 Ebenezer Church Rd., Old Fort, NC 28762.
