MARION

Mr. Glenn Phillip Evans, 71, of Marion, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019, at SECU Inpatient Unit of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, following several years of declining health. His loving family was by his side when he transitioned from this side to his eternal home in Heaven where he is now free of the trials of this world and at peace.

A native of Newark, N.J., he was born Aug. 5, 1947, to the late Harold A. Evans and Florence Jarvis Evans. He moved to Marion 40 years ago and was the former owner of Marion Office Machines until his health problems prohibited him from being able to work. His family will remember him for his unwavering love for them and they will miss him deeply. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Maroney; and two brothers, Harold and Tom Evans. Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Stratton Evans; two daughters, Michelle Evans Rodriguez and husband, Raymond, and Tamara Evans Griffin and husband, Kevin; a brother, Curt Evans Sr. of Claremont, Va.; and three grandchildren, Jax and Sienna Rodriguez and Trevor Griffin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 23, at 6 p.m., in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral home in Marion. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service.
