Shelton Guy, 71, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly in a motor vehicle accident Saturday, June 29, 2019.

He was born in Cumberland County, April 10, 1948, to the late Cliff and Eileen Guy. Shelton enjoyed gold prospecting and was a fine carpenter. He was a fire fighter with City of Cary Fire and Rescue Department, where he served many years. Shelton was also a collector of fine engineering artifacts. His family will remember him for his honesty, generosity, and his tender and caring heart.

He was preceded in death by a son, Avery Guy.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Nancy Umbaugh Guy; five children, Joe Guy of Apex, Michale Guy and wife, Teresa, of Willow Springs, David Miller and wife, Kristin, of Gulfport, Mich., Steven Miller of Cleveland, Tenn., Martin Miller of Nebo; a brother, Joel Guy of Concord; four grandchildren; and like a brother, Greg Hood and wife, April, of Fuquay-Varina.

Services will be scheduled pending Nancy's recovery at a later date.
