Mr. Walter Elbert McPeeters, while surrounded by his loved ones, passed away at his residence in the North Cove Community on the night of Saturday, May 4, 2019, following a brief battle with cancer.

The son of the late Arthur Charles McPeeters and Bertha Silver McPeeters McGinnis, he was born in McDowell County on October 26, 1941. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl McPeeters and Clarence McPeters; and three sisters, Grace Robinson, Doris Morgan and Ruby Revis. Walter enjoyed reading, fishing, and had a love of collecting many different things. For many years he was a self-employed electrician, and following retirement, he proudly worked at the Woodlawn Convenience Center.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Crystal McKinney McPeeters; three children, Cindy Henderson (Allen), Donnie McPeeters and Debbie Bragg; five grandchildren, Chrissy Robinson, Derek Robinson, Donnie "DJ" McPeeters, Jr., Libby Henderson and Adam Henderson; and five great-grandchildren, Johnathon Robinson, Lexi Robinson, Spencer McPeeters, Wran McPeeters and Raylyn Raines. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Jean McPeeters and Martha Farr (Jerry).

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service and Crematory.
