Jack Taylor MARION Jack Taylor, 83, of Marion passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese. Jack was a native of Yancey County and was born March 3, 1936. He was the last of seven children born to the late Rich Taylor and Chloe Silver Taylor. Jack was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela DePaiva. Jack retired from American Thread Company as a supervisor after 46 years. He was a happy-go-lucky man, who had a goal of lighting up anybody's day that he came in contact with. Before Jack became ill he could be found on a golf course and was a member of the Marion Lake Club. A true outdoorsman, he also enjoyed spending his leisure time fishing. Jack had a passion for music and was a musician. He played the piano, even after his stroke stopped him from using his right hand. All of the staff at Autumn Care of Drexel complimented his skillfulness of playing with just his left hand. Most of all, his children and grandchildren were the most significant part of his life. Jack is survived by four children, Dr. Mark Ross and wife, Diane, of Butler, Tenn., Terri Fussell of Lake Wales, Fla., Lazette Welch and husband, Tim, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Christy Taylor of Old Fort; six grandchildren, Chloe Ross, Christopher Cantey, Ryan Cantey, Travis Cantey, Joshua Fussell and Jenni Fussell; and one great-grandson, Austin Fussell. A service will be held at a later date. The family wants to thank the Nurses, CNA's and staff of Autumn Care of Drexel for their many years of dedication to Jack. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.westmorelandfuneralhome.com.
