Paul James Thomas, 74, of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab in Black Mountain.

Mr. Thomas was born in McDowell County to the late Carl James Thomas and Gladys McIntire. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Thomas. He was a technician at Collins and Aikman for many years, and he was also a faithful member of the Moose Lodge where he loved to shoot pool. Survivors include his wife, Betty Inman Thomas; three sons, Paul Turner, Michael Thomas, and Scotty Thomas; one daughter, Sheila Turner; two sisters, Glenda Cable and Ruby Elliott; and numerous grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 11, at Kirksey Funeral Chapel in Old Fort at 2 p.m., with Preacher Johnny Bass and Preacher Harry Kidd officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel, one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park.
