East McDowell Middle School’s athletic department is hosting a vendor and craft fair on Saturday at the school starting at 9 a.m. and lasting until 2 p.m.
For the athletics staff, this is an outside-the-box approach to raising money for its sports teams, and so far, it has been met with local support. Saturday’s event will feature close to 40 vendors offering a variety of items from food and fun to crafts, antiques, jewelry and even an adoption day will take place from a local animal shelter.
Most of the event will be held inside of the East McDowell Gymnasium with some of the other portions being held outside.
Local businesses such as Coley’s Graphics will have booths at the event, along with notable vendors such as Paparazzi, Mary Kay, Scentsy, Young Living and Plunder Design Jewelry.
Proceeds from vendor rentals and food sales will go back to East McDowell Athletics for the 2019-2020 school year.
“We feel like this is a unique way of fundraising money for athletics here at East, with local support from different businesses and groups who are interested in promoting their products through this venture,” said East McDowell head softball coach Jami Boyd. “Our goal is to raise money for needs within the athletic department and we also want this specific event to become a yearly tradition that grows in popularity.”
A few extra spaces for interested vendors are still available for any local business who would like to participate on Saturday. Contact Coach Boyd at (828) 442-2700 for more information.
