It was a clean sweep for the McDowell Lady Titans Monday night, getting back into the winner’s column with a victory in three games against Mountain Heritage at Titan Gym.
After a competitive first game that the Lady Titans were able to win, McDowell cruised to the win with an easier time of it in the second and third games.
Jada Cannon and Makenna Parkins (14 digs, 3 blocks) finished with six kills each. Cannon’s spike on the first point of the first game pushed the Lady Titans to a 25-19 win.
Jessica Cannon led the team with seven blocks, three aces and a pair of kills. Emily Register (4 blocks, ace) and Daisy Rice (3 blocks) had three kills each.
Multiple back line players were active in the match. Elaina Rampey recorded 21 digs and a pair of aces. Lucy Hames (12 assists) added 13 digs, Katie Baker had 12 digs and Clementine Miller finished with eight digs.
Up 1-0 the Lady Titans did not let up offensively, scoring 12 of the first 13 points scored in the second and holding a commanding 25-3 margin overall. And then in the third, McDowell withstood a late rally attempt by the Lady Cougars to win the match with a 25-19 third game.
At 4-2 overall (1-1 in league play) the Lady Titans are in the midst of a run, winning four out of their past five matches. McDowell jumps back into Northwestern 3A/4A Conference play tonight at Freedom.
