The McDowell Titans junior varsity basketball team used a late flurry of action to beat the South Caldwell Spartans 59-56 Friday afternoon inside of Titan Gymnasium.
In a contest that went back-and-forth the entire way, McDowell (16-3 overall, 9-3 NW 3A/4A) was down by a 56-51 margin with 1:41 left and used an 8-2 run to finish off the game. Gavin Davis (7 points) put the Titans ahead for the last time with two free throws with 38 seconds left on the clock.
Then, after a missed opportunity by the Spartans on the other end, Riley Moore (6 points, 3 rebounds) tacked on another point at the line with 19 seconds left for good measure. South committed a turnover passing the ball around to the outside on their final look at the basket.
