NEWTON - The McDowell Titans junior varsity boys basketball team went on the road Friday afternoon and survived an early scare to beat the Fred T Foard Tigers 59-41.

McDowell (2-0) was behind through the first quarter but a strong end to the first half help propelled the team past the early struggles and to its second win of the season.

Gavin Davis finished with 16 points, Mason McPeters had nine points and Zavion Bianchini had eight points to lead the charge.

Guards Michael Queen, Colby Effler, Riley Moore and Evan Grigsby along with forwards Peyton Rose and Kamden Silver also contributed in the victory.

McDowell will return home on Tuesday against R-S Central (4:30). There will be no jayvee girls game.
