BAKERSVILLE - McDowell High School and its two junior varsity basketball teams continued their early season success winning on the road Friday at Mitchell High School.    

In junior varsity girls action the McDowell Lady Titans cruised to a 48-20 victory. After spending over a week off, McDowell (2-0) took care of business on the floor; six different Lady Titans scored in the game with Peyton Koone leading the way with 17 points.

    Madi Smith added 15 points and Syndey Strode had five points, all in the first half. Makaya Burgess finished with three points, Kassie Banks scored two points and Aubrey Goode scored one point.
    McDowell 52, Mitchell 37 (jayvee boys)
    In junior varsity boys action the McDowell Titans remained undefeated after beating the Mitchell Mountaineers 52-37.
    Gavin Davis led the way with 16 points and five rebounds. Mason McPeters added seven points and four rebounds.
    Colby Effler (3 assists) scored five points. Riley Moore (4 assists, 3 rebounds), Michael Queen and Mason Lamb chipped in with four points apiece. Peyton Rose and Kamden SIlver had two points each and forward Zavion Bianchini (8 rebounds) scored one point.
    Both McDowell junior varsity teams are scheduled to be in action on Tuesday at East Burke (4 p.m. jayvee girls start).
