The McDowell Titans junior varsity basketball team, with the help of a lucky dozen players, remained perfect on the season, beating the West Caldwell Warriors 65-37 Friday.

Gavin Davis posted 14 points and Michael Queen (3 assists, 3 rebounds) added 13 points to give the undefeated Titans a pair in double figures. McDowell (13-0 overall, 6-0 Northwestern 3A/4A Conference) jumped out to a 24-7 lead after one quarter and gradually expanded its margin throughout the contest.

Josh Smith scored nine points off the bench. Evan Grigsby (3 assists) tallied seven points and Zavion Bianchini along with Peyton Rose (9 rebounds) and Mason Lamb (3 rebounds) had four points apiece.

Colby Effler (4 assists, 2 rebounds), Kamden Silver, Ethan Hensley, Alajandro Campos and Grayson Blackwelder scored two points apiece in the victory.

McDowell’s junior varsity program has been on quite an impressive streak. To go along with the 13 straight wins this season, the Titans have won 19 of their last 21 contests. Both losses in that stretch came to the Freedom Patriots.

McDowell will be on the road Tuesday afternoon at Freedom High School in junior varsity boys and girls action (4 p.m.). The Lady Titans are looking to bounce back from a 53-27 loss to Alexander Central in their last game back on Jan. 12.
