The McDowell Titans junior varsity basketball team fought off a slow start to remain perfect on the season, beating the R-S Central Hilltoppers 58-39 at Titan Gym.
Down 13-7 early in the second quarter, McDowell (3-0) went on an 18-8 run over a five-minute span to take a seven-point advantage to the halftime break. The Titan Jayvees then posted a 33-21 edge in the second half to pull away.
Mason McPeters led the team with 15 points and six rebounds. Zavion Bianchini added 14 points off the bench.
Jandon Robbins (4 rebounds) finished with eight points and Kamden Silver netted seven points.
Peyton Rose had four points. Gavin Davis and Mason Lamb scored three points each. Colby Effler (8 assists) and Josh Smith rounded the scoring with two points each.
Both McDowell junior varsity teams will return to action on Friday at Mitchell (4 p.m. jayvee girls start).
