RUTHERFORDTON – It was an impressive bounce-back for the McDowell Titans junior varsity basketball team as they ran past the R-S Central Hilltoppers 57-27 Tuesday evening.

McDowell (1-1) jumped out to an 11-2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, erasing the memory of last week’s loss at home to East Burke in the season opener. The Titans padded their advantage throughout the game, jumping out to a 19-point halftme advantage and a 29-point lead after three quarters.

Qualique Garner led the way with 14 points and five rebounds. Trent Lewis (7 rebounds) and Seth Harrison (5 rebounds) added eight points each.

Johnathan Ramirez posted seven points off the bench, Dequan Boyce (six rebounds) netted six points and Gavin Davis had five points.

Freshmen Michael Queen and Peyton Rose and sophomore Dylan Aldridge had two points apiece, and David Dominguez scored one point.
