McDowell Titans senior defensive standout Andrew Davis has been chosen to play in the National Underclassman All-Star Football Game in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Dec. 30.

The annual invitation-only game pits high school players from the North against the South. The NUC also offers showcases, and Davis will be attending two in December, one in New Jersey and one in Georgia.

Davis, who played both inside linebacker and defensive tackle this year, led the Titans in tackles for the second consecutive season, making 96 stops. He had three tackles for loss, a quarterback sack, a caused fumble and an interception as well.

The 6-foot, 230-pound Davis finished his three-year varsity career as one of the school’s most prolific defenders with 220 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, three fumble recoveries, four caused fumbles, a blocked kick and an interception. He was an All-Northwestern 3A/4A Conference selection as a junior. The 2018 all-conference list will not be released until all the league’s teams are finished with the playoffs; Watauga was still active coming into Friday.
