The McDowell Titans varsity soccer team’s losing streak was extended to six games on Monday in a 6-2 loss at East Burke High School.
McDowell (0-6) was in striking distance through the first 40 minutes, trailing by just a goal at 2-1. However, a rough second half doomed the Titans. East Burke quickly extended the lead after the break and finished the game with a 4-1 second-half margin to pull away, keeping McDowell winless on the season.
Jesse Fuentes accounted for the Titan score in the first half and Noe Olloqui-Ochoa kicked in the second goal.
Junior Antony Salgado chipped in three scores for the Cavaliers. Anthony Thao scored twice and Josue Aguirre-Escobar had one goal. Senior Micah Chrisco assisted in three of the East Burke scores.
McDowell was scheduled to continue non-conference play against Mountain Heritage Wednesday; however that game has been cancelled and will not be re-scheduled due to a scheduling conflict. Northwestern 3A/4A Conference will begin on Monday at Titan Stadium against Hickory.
