The Northwestern 3A/4A Conference golf season started off on a bad foot for the McDowell Titans, who finished last in Monday’s match at Orchard Hills.

The Titans shot 399, placing behind West Caldwell (325), Alexander Central (328), Hickory (340), South Caldwell (360), St. Stephens (362), Freedom (366) and Watauga (399).

Jordan Johnson’s 91 topped the Titans’ scoreboard. R.J. Stanley carded a 96 and Matthew Johnson 100.

Freedom’s Jared Clontz was the medalist with a 74. Hickory’s Eli Wyatt had a 75 and West Caldwell’s Matthew Gurnsey a 76.

The NWC teams play at Lenoir Golf Club Tuesday, March 19.
