A trio of McDowell Titan wrestlers placed in the annual North Henderson Knight Invitational last week.

Sophomore 126-pounder Toby Finn captured second, the Titans’ best individual finish. Finn beat State placer Hunter Dover of Chase 8-1 in the semifinals, but lost 4-2 in the finals.

Senior Josh Morgan was fourth in the 160-pound class. Morgan turned in his strong finish despite still suffering the effects of a shoulder injury he sustained in the season opener.

Mason Collins placed fifth at 106 for the Titans.

“We wrestled tough,” said first-year head coach Justin Snethen. “We did really well. I can’t complain. We are young team and the guys are improving but it takes time and champions are not made overnight.

“Overall, the team performed well in varsity and in jayvee. We had several placers in it as well. The kids are working hard.”

McDowell travels to West Henderson tonight for a dual. The Titans will compete at West Henderson again next weekend in the annual Falcon Frenzy Tournament, one of the area’s top events.
