On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows visited McDowell as part of a three-county tour within the 11th Congressional District.

Wednesday morning, the Republican chairman of the U.S. House’s Freedom Caucus first visited the N.C. Farm Bureau District meeting at the Marion Community Building. After that, he visited Eastfield Global Magnet School with Principal Michelle Baker as his guide. They were accompanied by School Superintendent Mark Garrett.

Meadows watched school students in the gym learn to juggle using scarves and had his photo taken with instructor Scott Rick. He visited a music class and listened to the students play “Shady Grove” on their instruments. He also visited a math class and asked a student about her math problem.

After his visit to Eastfield School, Meadows left to visit Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard in Henderson County with N.C. Sen. Chuck Edwards. Meadows then traveled to Transylvania County where he attended the kickoff party for the capital campaign to build the Veterans History Museum of the Carolinas.
